Graduation Ceremonies Celebrate Crossroads Students' Growth

Crossroads students in fifth, eighth and 12th grades capped an outstanding 2018-19 with special end-of-year ceremonies featuring thoughtful reflections, musical performances and excitement for the future.

 

Several graduates in the Class of 2019 offered words of wisdom during Commencement exercises on May 30 that also featured a keynote address by Upper School English teacher Virginia Benitez and performances of classical, popular and original music.

 

“If each person here brings what they have learned at Crossroads with them on their journey, we can make a change,” Emmet Abrams ’19 said during an inspiring speech about seizing opportunities. “From what I know of you graduates today, I am ecstatic to see what the future of our endeavors holds for us.”

 

At the fifth-grade Moving Up ceremony June 6 in the Community Room, students shared heartfelt vignettes about their Elementary School experiences. They also sang touching renditions of pop tunes as well as an original song by fifth-grader Elaina Stuppler.

 

“I’m thankful to be at a school like Crossroads that allows you to pursue your passions,” fifth-grader Sarina Braun said.

 

The Middle School Moving Up Ceremony, held June 11 in the Grisanti Gym, included speeches by eighth-graders Henry Glickman and Meaza Light-Orr and a welcome to the Upper School by student council co-presidents Kai McAliley and Sophie Himmel.

 

“The Middle School has been a place to make mistakes and learn from them in a low-pressure environment,” Meaza said.
