Commencement, Moving Up Ceremonies Mark Milestones
Students celebrate a fulfilling 2017-18 school year at Crossroads.
With inspiring speeches, beautiful musical performances and special traditions, Crossroads fifth-, eighth- and 12th-grade students bid farewell to their respective Schools divisions in heartwarming end-of-year ceremonies.
On May 31, outgoing seniors in the Class of 2018 shared their insights and perspectives during a special Commencement program that featured a keynote address by Upper School history teacher Paul Case and student renditions of classical, traditional and pop songs.
Several student speakers shared how Crossroads impacted their development beyond education.
“To all the incredible teachers that not only taught some of the most academically and philosophically fulfilling classes, but also made us profoundly better human beings, thank you,” Joji Baratelli '18 said.
The Elementary School honored this year’s class of fifth-grade students on June 11 with a lovely Moving Up ceremony in the Community Room. The event was followed by a reception during which parents, employees and community members congratulated the Class of 2025 and wished the students well as they continue their journeys in education.
On June 12, the Middle School held a Moving Up ceremony that included performances by the Jazz Collective, a keynote speech by seventh-grade Core teacher Shae Varholak and reflections by eighth-grade students Tomas Fuchs-Lynch and Anya Lalwani.
“The greatest challenges that we experience make us strong enough to face the next ones,” Anya said. “I learned that I can accomplish anything with perseverance.”
